Meet Our Crew

Drew Martin

Co-Owner & Production Manager

As a motivated teenager drawn to the construction industry, Drew was hired as a general laborer by a large framing contractor. Always eager for more responsibility, Drew steadily climbed the company’s ranks, ultimately becoming a crew foreman by the age of 20. Drew and his crews worked on some of Southeast Michigan’s most significant residential developments. His success at such a young age came from his attention to detail and unparalleled work ethic.

Having achieved his goals as a crew foreman, Drew took the initiative to establish his own construction business, DMC, Inc. This step allowed him to further develop his skills while benefiting from the flexibility and adaptability of his new, smaller company. DMC undertook numerous residential and commercial projects.

Now, as the co-owner and Project Manager of Momentum Construction, Drew has effectively overseen hundreds of projects, both large and small. During his time off, Drew enjoys being with his family and during the winter months you will often find him in Northern Michigan snowmobiling.

Adam Zylka

Co-Owner & Sales Manager

Adam discovered his passion for homebuilding and remodeling while starting in the construction industry as a teenager. After graduating from Dexter High School, Adam pursued his education at Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management.

During his time at Michigan State, Adam didn’t just focus on academics; he also helped pay his way through school by joining a rough framing crew. After graduating, Adam began his career working with a number of Michigan builders as a crew foreman, site superintendent, and project manager. Some of Adam’s unique carpentry skills were developed while assembling Timber Frame structures throughout the Midwest.

He is now putting over two decades of industry experience to work as co-owner of Momentum Construction. Adam’s responsibilities include sales, estimating, office administration, and more, all while applying the expertise he’s gathered throughout his career. Outside of building Adam enjoys hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, coaching baseball and most of all spending time with his family.

Emily Bastion

Senior Designer

Emily grew up with a love of interior design. Her mom was an architectural draftsperson, and when her parents built their home in 1997, the world of interior design was opened to her. She loved to pour over wallpaper books with my mom (and still does!) and tag along for construction site visits. She later went on to study interior design at Michigan State’s CIDA accredited program.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree, she spent the first decade of her career working in commercial/retail design downtown Detroit, where she perfected my skills in spatial planning and fixture design. After her world shifted in 2020, due to both the pandemic and motherhood, Emily pivoted towards her original passion of residential design. Emily now leads our design team. She resides in Dexter with her husband and two boys.

Matthew Nicholas

Project Manager

A childhood spent in a decade-long family home-building project and inspired by PBS’s “This Old House” series, Matthew dreamed of being an architect and started his career in home construction when he was fifteen. During his studies in Construction Management at Eastern Michigan University, home design fell away as he chose instead to focus on acquiring first-hand knowledge of building techniques and artisanal skills, becoming a journeyman carpenter. He is one of the rare few who has learned every home-building skill from setting foundations through fine finish-carpentry and is always learning new ways to build and create homes.A recent addition to Momentum, Matthew brings twenty-five years of experience in the building/remodeling industry and a decade spent in project management to our projects. Along with an acumen for architecture and design, as a Project Manager he strives for professionalism and positive client experiences in our building and remodeling projects.

Eric Kennedy

Project Manager

Eric has worn many hats on his journey to us at Momentum. He’s a home woodworker, tinkerer, and DIY’er since he was just a kid, as a laborer at 11 years old with his dad as an electrician’s apprentice. After a stint in the broadcasting industry, he went to college and earned a master’s degree in Secondary Education. He taught High School Science for 16 years, then worked with the Metroparks teaching kids about nature. He served 6 years on his local school board, while taking up full-time handyman work and home renovations with a small construction outfit. After 7 years of renovating and 4 years of co-ownership, Eric moved in with us as Project Manager.

Eric is a consummate outdoorsman who enjoys camping, RV’ing, and all things nature related. He keeps his hands dirty as a gardener and is an obsessed bass fisherman. He considers himself a foodie and a craft beer connoisseur (bordering on snob). Eric resides in South Lyon with his very tolerant wife, brilliant daughter and her 2 felines: Winnie and Pluto.

Eric began his career in the trades over twenty years ago working for a local custom home builder. Gaining much of his experience while traveling throughout Michigan and the Midwest, he quickly worked his way up to crew foreman while specializing in timber frame and structural insulated panel homes. Dustin’s first experience in the construction industry was as student at Pinckney High School. Dustin was part of the Construction Trades Program with other Livingston County students. This experience proved to be valuable as he learned a valuable skill and it translated to a keen eye for quality.

Dustin plays an important role within Momentum and we look forward to being a part of his growth. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time up north with family and friends.

Andrew Perrydore

Carpenter

Andrew comes to Momentum with a well rounded background in the construction industry. After High School he worked on many commercial projects as an HVAC fabricator. However, over time his passion for crafting and more rewarding work led him to the residential side of the business. Andrew worked for close friend of his as a carpenter and his hard work provided a pathway to start managing projects. Andrew moved to Momentum to be closer to his home in Saline while continuing his career in residential remodeling.

Andrew spends most of his free time with his wife and sons. He has recently been pushing to start a new Momentum hockey team since 50% of employees played…we will see what happens.
